This former BYU Cougar and sixth round pick of the Washington Nationals continues to push for Major League time, ending last season with the AAA Rochester Red Wings, while pursuing entrepreneurial goals that extend beyond baseball. And, he might not even be the best athlete in his house. His wife, Mikayla (Colohan), was the national soccer player of the year in 2021, also playing for the Cougars.

Dealer’s Choice I am up around 8 a.m. I make breakfast and read. I have some kind of task related to my career after baseball and have done internships for companies like Bank of America, Sandlot Partners and Interlink Capital Strategies. I arrive at the field around noon. Between noon and 6 p.m., I’m either taking ground balls, hitting batting practice, working out or messing around in the locker room. Lights come on at 6 p.m. After the game is over, I’m back home, spending the next few hours talking to my wife and parents on the phone before heading to bed.

The Flop One of the best surprises of my life was representing the Washington Nationals at the Washington D.C. temple open house media day where we were taken on a private tour of the D.C. temple with Elder David A. Bednar.

Hand You Were Dealt Baseball is a sport where you fail much more than you succeed. With that comes frustration and pressure from outside and within. I have had a couple challenging seasons. However, in that process I have learned that today’s challenges do not always mean tomorrow’s challenges. If you stay focused on where you want to go and the plan you’ve set to get there, you can overcome your shortcomings and eventually exceed your expectations.

Shuffle the Cards There are two significant moments that have shaped me most. The first was my mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the second is marrying my wife, Kayla. Both have had the biggest impact on who I am and how I live my life.

Go-to Game Hearts or Spades.

Wild Card I want to be an entrepreneur after my baseball career.

Ace Eats Redmond Farm Store — no doubt. I order the chicken pesto panini.
